SBFN Data Portal FAQ

This page contains frequently asked questions about the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network Data Portal.

Account:

1. How can I create a member account for the new portal if I'm a SBFN member?

Member accounts are created by the SBFN Secretariat. The first user—usually the point of contact (POC or focal point) from your institution—is given access with extended rights. An automated email will be sent to the POC’s email address with a temporary password. Log in within 72 hours to activate your account. The POC can then add more team members to collaborate on the survey. For detailed steps on how to add a team member, see this step-by-step guide.

2. Where can I set a password for my account?

You can set your password in your member profile. If you forget your password, click “Forget password?” on the member log in page, enter the email you use to log in to SBNF member’s account, an email will be sent with instructions to reset your password. You are recommended to change your password after activating their account.

3. How many accounts can one member register?

A member can have only one POC (Point of Contact) administrator account (an equivalent to a person with expanded rights and access). No limits for teammates account (users with limited access).

4. Is there a limit to the number of devices I can be logged into simultaneously with one account?

You can only be logged into one device at a time with one account.

5. Can I change my account email address?

The email address cannot be changed for security reasons. Instead, a member can request that the email be blocked and a new one created. To do this, the person with sufficient access should send a request to support_sbfnatifc [dot] org (support_sbfn[at]ifc[dot]org).

6. How do I recover a forgotten password for my account?

The password can’t be recovered for security reasons. If for any reason you would like to receive a new password, please click ‘Forgot password?’ on the login page and follow the instructions. Once you have access to your profile, request a password reset again and follow the instructions as well.

Survey:

1. Who should complete the SBFN survey for my country?

We recommend that one member institution in each country take the lead in coordinating the survey submission on behalf of all SBFN members in a country. This approach helps ensure a streamlined process and a single, consolidated response per country. If multiple institutions are involved, please agree on a focal point and inform the SBFN Secretariat. Institutions within the same country can collaborate on the same survey through the data portal, where they can also leave comments and notes to support joint completion.

2. What if there are separate institutions covering banking and non-banking sectors in my country?

In countries where different institutions are responsible for the banking and non-banking sectors, each institution should complete the corresponding survey for their sector. For example, the institution responsible for the banking sector to fill out the banking sector survey and the other institution responsible for non-banking (e.g., securities, pensions, insurance) sector to fill out the non-banking survey. Please confirm this arrangement with the SBFN Secretariat or propose an alternative that suits your institution

3. Which survey should I complete?

There are two types of surveys: Banking/Non-Banking Sector Survey and Preparation Stage Survey. If your country has one or more sustainable finance framework(s) in place, you will be assigned the banking/non-banking sector survey. If your country is still in the preparation stage (i.e., no framework is in place), you will be assigned the Preparation Stage Survey.  For the purposes of the SBFN Measurement Framework, the term “national framework(s)” can refer to one or several policies, roadmaps, guidance, regulations, and/or principles issued by regulators or industry associations in relation to each pillar of sustainable finance. If you log into the portal and find that you’ve been assigned to the incorrect survey, please contact us for assistance.

4. How do I access and complete the survey?

Your institution’s POC will receive an automated email once a survey has been assigned. Click the link provided in the email to log in to the data portal.

5. Will previous responses be available for reference?

Yes. If your country participated in the 2023 , you could find previous response in your country profilefor your reference.

6. Can multiple users collaborate on the survey?

Yes. The Focal Point can add additional collaborators to help complete the survey once logged into the SBFN Portal. If you need help accessing the portal, please contact SBFN Secretariat at support_sbfnatifc [dot] org.

7. Can I edit my responses after submitting?

Yes. You can return to the Data Portal and make changes to your responses at any time before the survey deadline. If you need assistance reopening a submitted survey or making edits, please contact the SBFN Secretariat at support_sbfnatifc [dot] org.

8. Who should I contact for technical or procedural issues?

Reach out to the SBFN Secretariat at support_sbfnatifc [dot] org

9. What will my survey responses be used for?

Your responses will contribute to the 2025 Global Progress Reports, which track collective progress and share best practices across the network. Your country’s progress will also be reflected in its country profile and on the global dashboard within the SBFN Data Portal. Any policy documents you upload in the survey will be published in the Framework Library—unless you mark them as confidential, in which case they will not be published.
